Our Coating Process

Each step in our process is carefully executed to create a clean, smooth, finsished product.

Surface Prep

The first step in our process is media blasting. Media blasting is the process of smoothing, shaping, and cleaning hard or rough surfaces by forcing solid particles across it at speed. Media blasting removes rust and surface contaminates, leaving a smooth metal surface that allows the powder to adhere seamlessly.

Pre-Treatment

Pre-treatment involves the degreasing and removal of dirt and oil on the surface of the metal. An acid-wash then opens the pores of the metal, allowing the powder to adhere better, eliminating the possibility of subsequent peeling, chipping or delamination.

Powder Coating

The powder coating process uses a solvent-free mix of dry plastic resins, pigments and fillers that melt and fuse together when heated. The solid particles of coating are electrostatically charged in a spray gun and applied to the surface of the item being coated. The electrostatic charge holds the powder in place where the item is then cured in an oven resulting in a durable, even finish.
